We are currently reopen and holding classes both in-person and online. We are so excited to be back together with you all in person! Additionally, the past year has led us to develop a hybrid class model that now allows students outside the DC area to join our classes virtually.
We've created a very flexible model for the course that allows students to attend class in-person or online, and to switch between the two options seamlessly. Our classes are held in a hybrid model, in which class is simultaneously held in-person and online.
The instructor is at the classroom space in person, and uses the Zoom platform to run the class and project the class onto the board in the room. The students in person can see and interact with the instructor and all the students on Zoom. And we've set up an additional camera facing the in-person classroom, so the students on Zoom can see and interact with the students in the classroom as well as with the instructor. It's a clever setup that allows you to join class remotely when you're traveling or are feeling under the weather. It also allows students outside the DC area to join us for class.
To keep everyone safe in the classroom, we're asking that unvaccinated students either wear a mask in class or else attend virtually. If you are vaccinated, you are welcome to resume normal classroom activities. All of our instructors and staff are fully vaccinated and will no longer be wearing masks during their lectures.
We plan to continue this hybrid model as we go forward, so students who are outside the DC area can register for classes knowing that they'll be able to attend class live online via Zoom throughout the schedule. This will also allow us to seamlessly switch between in-person and virtual class if there's any change in public health conditions.
Over the past year, we've been conducting our extra-help sessions virtually and have discovered that the online Zoom platform is especially conducive to extra-help sessions because we can easily group students in breakout rooms with their classmates where they can listen to and learn from each other's questions. Thus, our plan for the immediately future is to keep Friday extra-help entirely online.
